Saturday Nov 5th, 2011-DAY 11 of trip.

The Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel were built and furnished over 6oo years, so there is a lot of art work to see.  Over 7 and 1/2 miles of hallways are filled with artwork collected from around the world.  Ranges from Renaissance to Egyptian.   It takes 2-3 hours to see it all.
After we dropped off our suitcases at our hotel, we rushed to "The Vatican" for our next tour.  We could not find them at the designated meeting place.  After feeling frustrated and trying to get help and time was getting late.  We decided to go it alone.  We rented automated phone that would give info on all the fresco's and art at "The Vatican".  I had my camera and took several pictures and put it back in my pocket with a zipper.  Later when I went to get it out it was gone.  I looked all over and in their lost and found but there was no camera.  I felt so bad, I had taken thousands of pictures and now to not have it was very disappointing.  I think I got pick pocketed while walking through the Museum, people would bump into you so it would have been very easy to do. I am glad Bill took a lot of pictures too.  So all of our memories are not lost forever.  "The Vatican" was spectacular, St. Peters Cathedral is in the the background, it is the largest Catholic church in the world.

this area was around "The Vatican" the interesting part about the Vatican is that it is its own city

Well over 100 years of design and building went into this structure.

This plaza was around the area of the Vatican.
