CANNING PEARS

On thursday Sept 29,2002, I was off work today and had alot of things to do. My first priority was to get my canning done. I ordered pears and could not get to them because I worked 3 straight 12 hr shifts. They were getting pretty ripe for sure. So today I canned pears and made some pear butter. It took me from 11 am to 3:30 p.m to finish. It is not hard to do but time consuming. Sharaes family was also coming down thursday to go to general conference and then leave sunday afternoon. So I was very busy trying to get things done before they arrived. Sharae gave me a great book to use for canning. "The Blue Book" it is great and easy to follow, so I have taken it upon myself while we live in Utah and have such abundance of fruits and vegtables to can as much as I can for our food storage. My grandmother use to can all the time and I remember being in her kitchen and watching her. It looked so hard and I never thought I could do it. Then Sharae learned how and got me excited about doing it. Whenever I have questions on what to do-I call Rae.

WE WANT TO DO SOMETHING WITH THIS CAR-IT HAS BEEN AROUND FOREVER....

BILL AND I HAD A GREAT IDEA TO TAKE PHOTOS OF LANDONS NOVA AND SEND IT TO THE T.V SHOW "OVER-HAULIN". MAYBE WE WILL GET PICKED TO GET THIS CAR OVER-HAULED AS A SURPRISE TO LANDON. WE SENT IN A LETTER WITH PHOTOS TELLING ABOUT HOW LANDON IS WORKING HARD TO GET INTO PRE-MED AND HIS PASSION FOR SCHOOL AND THIS CAR THAT HE CAN NOT GIVE UP. WE WILL SEE IF WE GET PICKED FOR THE SHOW. IT WILL BE A LONG SHOT, BUT WE HAVE JUST AS MUCH OF A CHANCE AS ANYONE ELSE. BILL DID A GREAT SHOP WRITING UP SOME GREAT THINGS ABOUT LANDON. WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON THE OUTCOME. landon is starting his fall semester full time and working 5 nights on and 5 off. He works hard and is always studying or picking up extra shifts to pay for his education. We are proud of him. Also, he goes into surgery with several different Doctors to watch the procedures. He especially enjoys Dr. Moesinger (general surgeon) who has taught Landon alot. Landon has seen alot of operations. Landon also goes to early morning seminars that the Dr's present the most recent one was about different types of tumors. Landon also has a new girlfriend named Kacie Keller she is very sweet and cute. They get along really well. Landon is hoping to graduate with his BS in social work next year and then take his MCap for med school. Landon is also a Teachers assistant at U Of U with Bills friend Scott Boyle, so he gets paid doing that also. He is very involved in the Social Work program and says it is much easier than the pre-med by a long shot. Landon has goog insights with people and I often go to him for advise if Bill isn't around.
