ME AND BILL'S FIRST SCUBA DIVING CLASS-(sorry we were too busy scuba diving to have anyone take our pictures).

Saturday January 18, 2013 Bill and I took our first scuba diving class.  It was 3 hours long.  We first had sit down instruction, then showered and got into a very nice warm pool.  Our instructor Eve helped us put on our scuba gear in the water because it is super heavy.  I had been very nervous to do this and was worried about my ears being able to de pressurize under water.  I remained calm through out the class.  Eve gave us signs and gestures to use under water to let someone know if there was a problem with oxygen or anything else.  Bill and I reviewed those signs with each other.  We then went under the water to practice using the generator for breathing, then we would take it out under water and cleared and placed under the water.  We also had to clear our face masks under water.  Bill panicked once, but was fine after that.  When we went to 12 feet, I worked on taking the pressure out of my ears while descending in the water.  Finally, I felt my ears pop and I was glad, it was a little painful in my ears as I started.  We swam in the pool under water for an hour to get used to inflating and deflating our vests which bring you up or down in the water.  Bill told me after class that he got dizzy coming up to the surface (like he had been at 6 flags on the roller coaster rides).  I was starving after class and he was not hungry.  We talked about our experience, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.  Bill was a little apprehensive, but still wanted to get PADI certification so when we go to the Western Carri bean in April we can scuba dive.  It was a great experience and we learned a lot and our really wanting to take the 6 dive course to certify in the next few weeks.  I promise I will have some pictures then to blog.
