Our first open water dive today March 16,2013. Our 2nd dive will be on the 24th and then we are PADI certified.

We are taking scuba diving classes through "Adventure West Scuba" We started the week we both got sick, so our first night we did not do any water skills, just class work.  Our first day in the pool to do skill work was March 11th.  You have to complete 5 classes along with pool work and then 2 open water dives to get PADI certified.  So today we went to a place called "Camper World".  The small lakes are hot springs so it is about 90 degrees.  Today was a beautiful day in the high 50's with lots of sunshine so it was a perfect day for our first dive.    We all met at a certain destination and followed each other to the spot.  Above is the owner with his scuba gear all set up for us.

Bill and I ready to pass off our skills we have learned.  One thing most important about diving is to breath slow and deep, you should never hold your breath with the regulator.  It is important to always stay calm and be level headed in your thinking.

The only life besides us in the water were some very small fish and little snails.  This one is slowly moving around my hand.

getting out of the water with our tanks on. These tanks are really heavy, it is not too good for my back but I lean forward.

The visibility in the water was only about 8 feet.

Bill getting help up on to the ladder by Doug who is the owner of Adventure West.  Someone always has to help lift the tank when your coming out of the water because they are so heavy with compressed air.

Almost there.

Yeah! I made it.

We practiced in the pool friday night 3-15-13 from 6-9p.m Then got up early Saturday morning 7a.m to head to the lake, we were at the lake diving from 9-12. Afterwards we had our instructor pass us off on our first dive.

It was a bit chilly when we got out of the water with a slight breeze, but the sun was shinning and it was a great day to Dive.

Kevin Ritz is our instructor, we only have 3 in our class, so we get private lessons.  It has been great fun.  Definitely one of the things to do on our bucket list.

Thermal lake called the Uddy lake of Indian.  Kit Carson traveled through this way into California and this is where it gets its name.

After we helped pack up our gear, we went off to the pool area to shower

Bill is a happy little scuba diver now.

This was not our Birthday Bliss...

Bill and I did have our birthdays but we both ended up being sick. We both got colds on Friday and by late Saturday night I had full blown body aches, chills, fever and lots of congestion in my chest with a sore throat.  I ended up in bed both Sunday and of course on my Birthday -Monday the 4th.  I did not feel like eating anything but just drinking fluids.  That week I had to call off work Tues and Wed then had my ACLS class on Thursday evening, by then I was feeling a bit better and went back to work on Friday and worked in the call center, so I did not have to be in direct contact with patients.  Then Bills birthday on Sunday found him to be getting better, he just had a cold and did not have the same symptoms as me.  Meanwhile, we were trying to stay away from Landon so he would not get sick.  He is gone most of the time, but I sprayed the house with Lysol often.  He never got sick.-thank heavens. I did fix Bill a nice dinner on his birthday on the 10th and we each split a carrot cake cupcake for both of our birthdays.  It was nice to get texts and calls and cards from everyone for our birthdays.  Thanks to everyone.  Sorry there are no pictures to share.
