FAREWELL DAY AT THE OFFICE-The DTA (Phillip Kradolfer) gave us going away presents. I got a carpincho purse and Bill got a letter opener. We were prepared to speak and bare our testimony's, but were not asked to. The Senior Missionary's were sad they did not get to hear us speak. I was relieved actually.

THE AREA PRESIDENCY-ELDER AIDUKAITIS ELDER BOWEN AND ELDER ZIVIC THE 20 PESO LESSON ON INTEGRITY When I was serving in the young womens (about 8 months in Argentina) and on one activity night I was teaching the women how to make home made banana bread. I needed matches (fosforos) so I drove around the corner to buy some at the nearest gas station. When I asked the young boy behind the counter (in spanish of course) he replied it would be 20 pesos. I answered seriously 20 pesos and not 20 centavos. Of course I knew the difference on how much they both were. He continued to tell me, yes, it is 20 pesos(about $7.00) for a small box of matches. I could hardly believe it. I thought to myself, well I need these matches and did not have the time to go to another store. So I purchased these expensive matches. When I left I felt like I was taken advantage of because of being an American with my short hair style,(which no one had in Argentina). I looked like a tourist. The misfortunate side of this story was this very young boy did not have any integrity at all and basically robbed me. I was very naive and did not think he was being dishonest at the time until later. I told Bill and we returned to the store and informed the manager. He said he would check it out and we told him how wrong it was of his employees to take advantage of the public like that. We never went back, but the story will remain in my heart as one of integrity to be honest in all your doings with people.
