June 5, 2014-Thursday. Today Bill had surgery at McKay-Dee hospital today. A few weeks ago Bill complained of a sharp pain on his back. When I looked he had 2 sores, I told him to get into the dermatologist. They did biopsies which showed melanomas. They sent him to a general surgeon Dr. Jordan on Tuesday June 3 and surgery was scheduled June 5. Bill went to the hospital at 7:30 am for sentinel node mapping. I was scheduled to work 11-7:30. Bill had gone into surgery at 10:30 after an hour I checked with OR and they informed me that they had to go in and take lymph nodes on both axillary sites. They had another 1.5 hrs and were just starting on Bills back. After surgery I spoke with Dr Jordan he said it was unusual for nodes to have cancer on both sides of arm pits. We don't know what kind of cancer it is or the stage until the pathology report comes back. I M not over reacting yet till I have more information. In the meantime, Bill recovered with some nausea and vomiting. I brought him home and he slept for awhile. Informed the kids and parents of Bills status.
