SIDE YARD.

This is our side yard we worked on over the fourth of July holiday. We had to move alot of rocks and prep the soil. We planted 3 different kinds of apple trees and alot of peranual flowers that will come up every year (less maintenance). It feels like we have been weeding forever, Bill sprayed for many days to kill the weeds we had growing like crazy. We are happy with the way it has turned out.

FRONT YARD.

The petunias and geraniums are really growing fast in the fron yard. They make a hedge along the rock garden. It is so beautiful. I plan on planting more plants in between the rocks for more color. Our grass is taking awhile to turn green again, after they had to dig it up to put in the sprinkler system. It is slowly coming along. Bill has been raking and moving rocks out of the backyard and we are in the process of planting sod. It is a bigger yard than we thought, but when you get working in it, it seems to take forever.

I LOVE FLOWERS

Utah has some of the prettiest flowers in the world. In the summertime everyone's yards are amazing with beautiful colors from their flowers. My hanging petunia baskets are flourising. The secret is lots of water everyday, sunshine-but not too hot or they die. They smell really fragrant in large bouquets like these by my front door.

IT'S MAGIC!

Yes, it is true, these are my real nails. How did I do it? well it was easy. I found a product called OPI gel nail polish. While I was getting my hair done one day. The "Salon Synergy" was running a special on nails. Since I can't wear acrylics because of working at a hospital. I found the next best thing. You take this special nail polish and the tech apply's 5 layers of the polish on top of your nails. They use a special light to dry the polish between coats. The neat thing is you get to choose your color and it lasts 4 weeks-no chipping, or having to put another coat on, or peeling of the polish. Right now I have clear on, but the last time I did it I chose a light pink natural tone. My nails look as good at 3-4 weeks as they did the first day. It also helps your nails grow longer because they don't tear or chip. I am in love with this product and feel it is the best 25.00 I have ever spent on getting my own nails to look good. (So here is a picture of my nails today-and it has been 2 weeks).

A few pictures with Grandma

June 30, 2010

Today is wednesday, Bill and I drove to Pleasant Grove to see Grandma Reid. I called Lakeview to let them know that we were going to bring her lunch. Grandma loves tacos-so we went to El Azteca for lunch and took her a taco, chips and salsa. When we got there Grandma was sitting on the patio by herself. She did not remember our names, but knew we were familiar. I had her guess who I was but she never could get my name right. So I finally told her my name. I like to keep her memory going by having her think through things before I give her the answer. She loved her taco and chips and started to drink the salsa. We brought her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for her dessert. She looked good and was happy, I called mom so she could talk with grandma and then mom told me to get her polka music out and let her listen to it. Grandma began reminiscing, tapping and humming with the music. She talked about how Charlie (grandpa) was such a good dancer to the polka. I took her to the bathroom and I changed her depends and sat her in the family room and gave her a big kiss good-bye. We spent 2 and 1/2 hrs with grandma today and it was truly wonderful. I am so glad she is happy, even though she will ask the same question over and over. She has been doing this for quite a few years now. Her hair is soft and the prettiest gray you have every seen. She is an angel and is always kind and will say positive things when you are visiting her such as "It's a beautiful day" or speaking of someone else-"She is a wonderful person". Grandma is a delight to know and be around. I love her.
